My first silver porpoise came about when I got my PhD and a group of friends presented me with a gift card at a small jeweller’s shop in Stockholm old town. Obviously, I wanted a porpoise pendant – everyone who loves porpoises knows how difficult it is to find porpoise jewellery among all the generic dolphins out there! The jeweller suggested I make my own porpoise from polymer clay, and she could then have it cast and make a silver pendant. My first porpoise is 46 mm long and weighs a hefty 40 grams. You may see me wear it from time to time on special occasions.
Other porpoise-people started asking me about the pendant, and I soon decided that I wanted to make porpoises available to others. The smaller porpoises that you see below are all born from the first one, which was 3D scanned, printed in two smaller sizes and cast in massive 925 silver.
